Whirlwind, super heros and tantrums
Life has been a whirlwind lately. We are set to close on the new house on Friday! Just four days until we have the keys. Movers are scheduled for the following weekend, which is good because that’s when we were able to get appliances delivered as well. I had no idea shopping for appliances was going to be so stressful, I mean how hard can it be to keep things in stock? The boys have been in the new home once and we’ve played at the park across the street several times now so we are explaining and talking it up.
Potty training was going really well until Brad and I took off for a five day vacation over Memorial Day and now the boys are regressed back to only wanting to wear diapers. With the move and all coming up I’m just letting it slide and we’ll get serious about it again after the move and transition into the new home. They still sit on the pottys about once a day so it’s not a total loss, but Forest was rushing to the potty to go all on his own before so it’s a little disappointing.
It’s all about super heros around these parts now. Spiderman, Batman and Robin, Superman. I’ve downloaded the old 60’s cartoons for them to watch since they are a lot less violent then the current superhero cartoons (at least as far as I can tell). They run around the house now pretending to be super heros and saving each other from the “bad guys.” Oh, and we watched Star Wars on Saturday. Now when the boys say, “Big Giant Sword” they are talking about the lightsaber. They normally won’t sit still for none-cartoon movies so I was pretty impressed by their attention span watching Star Wars. And of course Brad and I loved reliving all the great lines. Forest got really into it and him and Orange Daddy were in constant discussion about who was a good guy and who was a bad guy in each scene.
Brad and I both caught colds immediately after getting back from vacation and have been struggling ever since. We think that the boys have also been feeling bad, at least we hope that’s what’s going on. Logan has thrown tantrums the past two days instead of taking a nap. Hour long tantrums. Both boys will completely freak out if the right person doesn’t get them their juice, if the wrong bowl is put in front of the wrong person, if any such thing is just so out of position. It’s a struggle to keep our sanity as the inmate’s insanity ramps up to all new levels of crying and screaming these days. I am praying that the vacation, colds, moving, teething, and every thing all piled up is what is causing this extreme increase in the insanity. And as usual, if this is the next ‘level’ and how life is going to be for awhile, I just keep reminding myself that all of our mom’s went through this, survived and we’ll make it through as well. But I’m still hoping things will level back out again soon. Never loose hope!
