Things that Make Me Happy About Being a Momma Lately

Forest saw me taking out a can of refried beans and ran over saying “me recycle can”. The boys love taking out the recycling to the big trash bin in the garage. Talk about some good imprinting.

Sitting at the dinner table and I over hear Forest on the other side of the couch (out of my view) say to Logan “hug brother” so I creep up to watch and hear Forest say “kiss” and watch him “mwah” on Logan’s cheek.

Both boys starting to use the word “love”. They seem to only love or think they can be loved by one person at a time, but that’s ok, it’s still adorable to hear them use the word.

It is the most amazing thing to see how children come into the world able to recognize particular symbols. Wavy lines are snakes, a shape that is a “boat”. I find this so awesome.

The boys are really getting into counting. For the most part, they have 1 – 5. They occasionally get confused but can do those first five pretty spot on.

Forest asks for hugs all the time.

The boys love to “hold hands” with each other and will ask the other one to hold hands. If one doesn’t want to it makes the other one pretty upset.

Our boys are doing several of these things and by reading your post, WOW! It makes them seem so grown up!

We don’t have curbside recycling in Anchorage (though there is a pilot program in a few neighborhoods), so we have to go to the Recycling Center on Saturdays to do our recycling. Both boys like to “do cycling” and help us take the recyclables to the different bins…which is tricky when it’s icy! (holding a kid in one hand, the recyclables in the other, and watching your step!).

Oh, and saying “love”. It took me a good 3 minutes to get Reid to say “I love Mama!” instead of “I love airplane!” (or Elmo, or waterslide, or snow, or skiing, or Finn). Funny boys!
