Crib situation: It took just about a week but things are going well now. The boys do really well at bedtime, even though Logan sometimes crawls into bed with Forest, it is super sweet. Like all previous bed related transitions, we’ve had to learn to be highly selective about what brings us into the room and for the most part leave the boys alone to run out of steam and go to sleep. Bu they are falling asleep within 30 minutes again so I think they have the hang of it. Naps still require a bit more, so I go sit in there for a few minutes so that they will stay in their cribs and allow themselves an opportunity to fall asleep. I don’t mind so that’s working well as well. We’ve already decided to get beds for the boys from Ikea, now we just have to make the time to go pick them out and buy them!
Braces: Major suckage. I’m so used to the rubber bands that my jaw feels weird when I take them off. Wires are poking the back of my mouth but I’m not sure that I can figure out a way to get in to have them trimmed back with the boys in tow. It’s a pretty big hassle and I have an appointment already scheduled for next week. It seems like in each 4 weeks between appointments I have about 2 weeks of pain and/or discomfort. I’ve also realized that I can’t taste things well with them on so I have been calling on others to spice my meals for me. A mouth full of metal is as bad on the taste buds as years of smoking.
Communication: For the Win! Logan is stringing together two words regularly and both boys are learning new words daily! It was one thing to know it was coming but completely different to actually experience this language explosion. Both boys are fluent in their colors and the alphabet. Now I’m trying to help them understand that letters go together to make words. Forest knows to pull our faces into eye contact when he’s trying to get our attention, it’s very tender and sweet.
Brad and I had a wonderful weekend away at the Texas Ren Faire. We spent two days enjoying all that is the Ren Faire experience including jousting, mead, turkey legs, and shopping. I even got a massage and henna on my hands. Which I have to say, is addictive. I think I’ll want more henna in the future. Anyway, we had a good time just being together in beautiful weather and having fun. Grandma Peggy held down the fort at home and had a great time with the boys. I will get some of her pictures posted in the coming days.
