Weekend “Hikes”

We have started a new tradition in our family that I’m really excited about.
Living in Austin, Texas we are surrounded by amazing trails, creeks, rivers, wildlife, and trees. There are so many roads that you can drive down and suddenly forget that you are in a big city. And most of [...]

Braces - 2 months

It’s been 9 weeks since I had the braces put on and my “fangs” are already gone. I saw my parents about two weeks after I got them back in May and my mom asked if I was able to fit these through my teeth yet. I thought that was a silly question [...]

Continued Confessions

I try really hard not to be judgmental. When I see someone doing something that is “un” something in the world according to Dawn, I work through it to come out on the other side. One of my recent judgments shot to hell by having kids of my own is related to [...]

M says Mmm

Thanks to this ingenious gift last December from their God Parents Bob and Gyee, Forest knows that the letter “M” makes the Mmm sound! I have shown him “m”s in books and when I ask him what it is he says “mmm”. I love being surprised daily by how much they are learning!

He says No

No one prepared me for how incredibly cute it was going to be when Logan learned how to say no. His no and his yes are heart melting sweetness as he bobs his head to the side, gives you a coy little smile and says “noooo” or “hhham yumm haaam” for yes. Seriously, [...]

Knock Knock and Snakes

Over the past few weeks, knocking has become THE thing to do around our house. The boys close doors just so that they can knock on them and try to get someone to open it up with a big smile and a “oh! hello, welcome in!” They even knock on objects that [...]

Toddler Eating Arrangements on Vacation

Looking for suggestions, Moms and Dads. We are taking the boys to Utah next month for the Johnson family vacation. The condos we are staying in have pack-n-plays so we have the bed issue covered (Dad, don’t forget to call and get those reserved for us). But what about eating? The [...]

In Honor of Working Moms

Awesome post in honor of working moms by a stay at home mom. Thus refuting the rumors of “mommy wars.”

Catching up

I’m in the world of screeching, whining, fighting, hitting 19 month-olds right now. The good news is that it’s caused by the molar teething that is going on. Toddlers with tempers - because gosh darn it, they hurt. Logan is on his third molar, a bottom one. Forest’s first on top [...]

Loving the Belly (and droopy boobs) after the Pregnancy

I used to tease everyone during my pregnancy to “love the belly.” I mean, it was an amazing thing to have this thin skin protecting two precious little ones growing so well inside. I felt beautiful and vibrant even with that huge expanding belly. But then reality hit after they were born [...]
