Dawn, you know the boys are going to be just fine, we will put out a sheet and Emily, Sydney, the boys and Nana will just have great fun with our own picnic while you take a break and eat with the adults. That's what nana's are for!

When we drove anywhere for vacation with the twins before they were old enough to sit in a seat, we brought portable feeding chairs with trays. We actually used these portable chairs as their regular chairs at home so it wasn't an additional expense. (link below)

If you don't want to buy something, renting something to keep them contained I think is crucial. With so many other things that are going to confuse the schedule, at least have the feeding thing be easy!

it sounds like you will be flying but we took these super light boosters from babies r us (they cost 12 dollars each) and used only the seat. i will try to find the name...maybe you can pack them in a suitcase with stuff all around them. they worked great. i'll check the brand and get back to you.

If there is an IKEA in Utah--not sure if there is one in SLC--you could buy two of those high chair things for $15 each...then again, they might be too big for them? Not sure. My dad bought them for the boys while in Portland and they worked out well, but now that they are older and in the booster chairs, I don't know how they'd do. Either way, it's just a suggestion.

We go to Hawaii in the beginning of September and we plan on bringing our clip on style Chicco chairs that we got at Target.com. They are the type that clip to the table. They fold down flat, but aren't exactly light. They do have the blow up chair/booster thingies from, I believe, One Step Ahead. They are super light. I've never used one myself, but have heard rave reviews.

Also, I am all for picnics. We do that a lot at home on the weekends. It just depends on how adventurous you want to be.

Good luck!
