Next Door
We have a really great living situation. We rent a duplex that is next door to the duplex that our good friends live in. It’s in a cul de sac so the boys run between both duplexes and seem to think both yards are theirs. The house is small, which I really like because it makes cleaning super easy. Unfortunately there isn’t much storage space so our garage is filled to the brim and our car sits under the big tree that we love so much for keeping the summer sun diffused. Our backyard has been off limits to the boys until very recently because the neighbors have some kind of tree with poison berries and I couldn’t trust the kids not to partake. But with everything else, it’s been perfect.
On Sunday our landlady dropped by to let us know that the woman living in the other half of the duplex that our friends live in, is moving out. The other home has an extra 200 sq foot. Walk-in closets in all 3 bedrooms. Washer and dryer inside the house instead of the garage. I’d love this because I forget about laundry until random times and running out into the heat or cold of the garage can sometimes suck. And 2 bathrooms. We only have one right now, which has never been a problem. But two sounds neat. Would be better for when we have guests over (especially overnight). Two would mean childproofing the one and teaching the boys what’s ok and not ok in the bathroom instead of having it closed off like currently. Could I make it fun and for the boys? Yes, please! Ok, I’m starting to ramble here and need to pull myself back to the point.
It would be an easy move, less then $100 more a month, bigger, more storage, and a better backyard for the boys. We just have to decide if it’s worth it. I believe we are moving towards a “yes”. Want to know my biggest reason for wanting to move? It’ll force us to purge more stuff. I love getting rid of things that we don’t use and moving is the perfect opportunity to force that further. Freecycle may have a LOT coming from us in the next month.
