Manners
The time has come. We’ve moved the boys into booster chairs at the table and have given them forks and plates to accompany their spoons and bowls. An d napkins. There are some messy days but I have a feeling that right now it’s the novelty and that they will settle down and do fine with it all in the coming week. They are able to tear apart bites of fruit and bread so I’m not cutting everything into tiny pieces any longer. There is more clean up involved but less prep time needed so I figure it’s a trade off.
And of course with sitting at the table comes manners. The boys like to put their feet on the table. That’s not ok. Neither is climbing on any of the tables in the house or into the window sill off of the fireplace mantel. So we’ve started “time out”. Not a lot of rules, just a few basic things. Aside from those mentioned above, also no hurting anyone on purpose like hitting or biting. I may have to add no throwing things other then balls but we’ll see. Right now our time out is the crib for about 2 minutes. Logan tends to want to make us happy so he doesn’t get into much trouble. Forest on the other hand… he likes to test us. But it already seems to be working with him. Now when he climbs onto something and I say “Forest, please get down,” he does!
I know that it’s not going to always be that easy. But we are starting something really important here and they made it really clear that they were ready for some “rules”.
Thank goodness for resources like books, the internet, and grandparents; because I don’t know what the heck I’m doing! Don’t let my calm behavior as I carry Logan out of the grocery store while he screams bloody murder fool you. I was laughing hysterically inside.

Enjoyed your blog. I too have twin boys that are now 14. Reading your blog brought back so many memories.
I am still working on manners. I know they get it because when they are out with other people, I always get complimented on how great they are. Why can’t they be like that at home?
Have fun, time passes so fast.
Love your boys names.
