Books
I read, a lot. I’d say that I am currently inhaling a book a week because I read during the boys naps and at night before bed. I thought I’d go ahead and begin to regularly write about some of my favorite reads here on my blog. I would love to hear about what you are reading as well so please make recommendations.
Here’s a bit about what I like to read:
I am a huge fan of science fiction and two of my all time favorite authors come from this genre, George RR Martin and Neil Gaiman. I also enjoy science fiction classic authors like Asmov and Card and some of the newer authors like Neal Stephenson.
I have a serious problem with historical fiction. It’s a love- hate relationship. I love to read them but then spend time after I’ve finished the book dissecting them for historical fact versus fiction. I have such a love of both research and history that I find this provides some outlet for putting my college degree (History) to use. I’m particularly interested in anything about geishas, and feudal Japan or China but have been easily sucked into the histories of Rome, World War II Germany, the Tudors, and Cleopatra.
My other dark reading secret is Tom Robins. I find him part brilliant and part madman and have no idea where that thin line lies. Which is exactly why I love him. I would probably say that Martin, Gaiman and Robins are three of the most brilliant authors alive today. All for very different reasons and none of which are extremely “literary”, just my reading addicted, humble opinion.
I’ll write more in a few days when I finish my current book and then back track a bit on some of what I’ve read in the past few weeks. I don’t have anything else “on deck” once I’m finished with this one so again, I encourage you to make recommendations. I’ll read anything and everything. No really, back when I wasin high school, I would pick up my dad’s W.E.B. Griffin military fiction books and read them just because I need to read and that’s what was easily at my finger tips.

Me too! When I was younger my brother would get so mad me because he’d want me to go out and play. I’d always say let me finish this chapter. He’d come back an hour later and I would still be saying the same thing. Now I read while I soak in the tub. To which my husband gets annoyed, cuz once I’m in a book everything else is gone! Once I get into a book I’ll read till I finish it. I read the last Harry Potter in 2 days! As for favs…I love V.C. Andrews. HAve no idea why, but have loved reading her books since middle school. Also love Jerry Jenkins and Tim Lahaye (sp?). I read romance, but I like the crazy stuff. Nothing tooo sappy. LOL Hope your boys inherit the reading gene!
