Trade
Lately there has been a lot of “stealing” going on between the boys. Logan always seems to want whatever Forest has, and Forest has no problem taking something back that Logan had just taken from him. In an effort to make things more civil, I’ve tried to make a game out of it that will teach the boys to be more fair to each other in regard to “toy management.” Now any time I see one of the boys trying to take the other one’s toy, I say “No no! TRADE!” and point to some other similar toy. Logan understood instantly, and if Forest was playing with a spatula, he’d go get the egg whisker or large spoon to trade with. If Forest was playing with a ball, he’d go get a different ball for trade. Unfortunately Forest is pretty stingy and doesn’t really like to give up whatever he has, even for something else he hasn’t played with for a while that should be fresh and “new.” At least while Forest was holding onto his treasure Logan had no problem playing the trade game with me and seemed to be really enjoying it. Dawn has mentioned that she has now sometimes seen Logan bringing a different toy to Forest when he wants the toy that Forest has.
I did finally find something that Forest would trade for however. At the very end of the evening when it was time to put him to bed, he finally gave up his toy for the pacifier! I assume he’ll pretty much trade anything for the pacifier…
