Introduction
Before posting anything else on this blog, I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Dustin, and I’m one of Logan and Forest’s fathers (the biological one). Now that this site is set up so that multiple people can post to the blog, I intend to also contribute my experiences with the boys and fatherhood in general. I have a really funny story to share that happened with Forest a couple of weeks ago, so I’ll be posting that soon.
I should probably say a little about myself so the readers of this blog have an idea of who I am and where my opinions may be coming from. I’m currently 29 years old, was born and lived in the DFW Metroplex area up until Dawn and I moved to Austin a couple of years ago, and have worked in technology, more specifically in information security, for about 12 years now. The first half of my career was in network security, doing secure network architecture design and implementation of network security systems such as Firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). The latter half of my career so far has been in security research, and involves a lot of travel and speaking at security conferences. While I have some spiritual beliefs, I’m not much of a spiritual person, leaning more toward logic, fact, physics, and science. If I had to classify my beliefs, I would probably be more aligned with Taoism than anything else. So, that’s me in a nutshell, and if interested you can find out much much more at my personal website.
Overall it’s been an interesting and rewarding first year with the boys, and I’m incredibly honored and blessed to have two such wonderful little guys in my life. Every minute that I have the pleasure to spend with them they bring me joy and I fall more in love with them every day. I look forward to being their Father as they grow into the men that they will someday become, and of course long after as well.
