Pacifier
Forest had an addiction and we felt that it was for the best if we helped him get it under control. Logan gave up his pacifier addiction at 5 months old when we let him cry it out and to teach him how to sooth himself to sleep. But cry it out didn’t work with Forest, he’s a bit more sensitive in general. But lately Logan had taken to stealing Forest’s pacifier and seemed to feel that he was entitled if Forest was going to be allowed. Forest was always so quiet because of the pacifier and I like hearing his little chirps and whistles, the adorable sounds he makes while he plays.
So with Brad off work a few days for Christmas and his parents visiting for the weekend, it seemed like a darn good time to say no more pacifier except for naps and bedtime. It was a rough first couple of days with lots of crying and clinging. He had a tough time the first few major car rides without it. But I had lots of support and he had lots of people to hug him and hold him through it all.
And now it’s adorable. After a nap, I’ll take Forest over to the dresser and ask him to put his pacifier there and he will. Sometimes he plays a kind of “keep away” game of it but that’s just how he is, everything is a game. But he understands that it’s only for sleep and he’s fine with that.
