Momma/Me update
What have I been up to? I’m pretty laid back these days, enjoying the fact that the boys no longer require an outing every wake period to make it through the time period. Enjoying the fact that they have whole days of keeping themselves busy (as long as I stay in the same room). They really are starting to learn to play and entertain themselves.
I’m excited about several retreats that are already on the calendar for this year. A children’s retreat next month at Earthsprings and a women’s retreat over my birthday weekend in April. I enjoyed gathering at our neighbor’s house last night with a group who’s intention is to share our spiritual practices on the new and full moons each month. And since it was the first new moon of the new year and the topic was intentions and goals - I’m feeling pretty revved up. Brad and I are discussing joining a gym so that I can start lifting an get back into yoga but also so that the boys can get some play time with other kids in the gym daycare.
Yesterday Brad and I booked our plane tickets to Santa Fe for Valentine’s weekend. We are going to stay with good friends there that I haven’t seen since they moved almost two years ago. I’m looking forward to spending time with them, getting away on a vacation with Brad, seeing Santa Fe and it’s rumored beauty in the snow that I miss greatly. Brad’s mom is coming into town to watch the boys over the weekend for us. I love the boys but I love my weekends away too.
Speaking of weekends away, this weekend I’m heading to Earthsprings to give some loving to two special women. One recently had serious surgery and the other has been sick off and on for about a month now. I just want to go and help them with their various households and give them some time off of doing housework, cooking, etc. And then in two weeks, Brad and I will be leaving the boys with Dusty while we head back to Earthsprings for a work weekend.
I have this very strong sense of positive about the coming year. I am madly in love with the boys and this fun age of exploration and sweet cuddles and open mouth kisses. I’m looking forward to doing a lot for myself and rebuilding the one on one relationship with Brad and my friends. Last year was very much about becoming a Momma, this year is very much about balancing that with being Me.
