Toddlers
I think it’s safe to officially declare our boys “toddlers” 12 days before their first birthday. Forest is already walking across the room after only a few weeks of steps, something that took Logan about a month. Of course this walking has Forest skipping his afternoon nap and he kept us (ok…really only Brad) up most of last night.
Both boys are expressing their new found independence with lots of back arching during diaper changes, when I *attempt* to put them into the car seat, and Logan in the high chair during dinner. The other day it took me a few minutes to get Logan buckled in because every time I tried he would arch and scream and I’d have to just let go and wait for him to calm down. Not sure what other way there is to do it because forcing him would have hurt him. I figure it’s a good thing I’m never in a hurry since we aren’t on any kind of strict schedule while running errands so I’ll just be patient and let him wear himself down. I’ve learned one secret, not to try and feed Logan anything at dinner. Instead only use finger foods and be ready to get him out as soon as he starts to get fussy. No use fighting over it, I know the boy gets plenty to eat. And don’t even try and remove them from something they are doing but shouldn’t be. Oh my! the cries would make you think I had just smashed their fingers into a door and the kicking would make you think they were about to run off. People keep saying “you have your hands full” when we are out and about now and all I can think about is how this is nothing yet!
Forest is eating a lot in the past few weeks so I’m expecting him to start catching up to his monster brother’s weight. They are definitely more then 2 lbs apart by now. Logan really has that little boy look while Forest is much smaller and petite and seems to still be “baby” like to me because of his size. But I wouldn’t be surprised if there the current difference shrinks up between now and their next doctor’s visit in about 3 weeks. Forest never stays “behind” for long!
