Taking the boys to the woods
This weekend we are taking the boys to Earthsprings, my home away from home. This will be their first children’s retreat there and I am so darn excited that I can hardly contain myself when I think about it. I’ve been going to Earthsprings for about 6 years now and at various points have gone at least once a month. It’s 60 acres of pine forest in East Texas cared for by one of the most amazing women I’ve ever met, Glenda Taylor. She’s a second mother, grandmother, mentor, teacher, counselor, and good friend all rolled into one.
I’ve dreamed of taking my hypothetical children to Earthsprings starting several years ago when I used to cook for the children’s retreats. I knew that this was an environment that I wanted my children exposed to. And so they shall be! These two boys are so connected to Earthsprings it’s about time they actually went there in physical form. We had ceremony there when Dusty and I decided we were ready to start trying to have a baby. And then when I became pregnant. And while we had to have Glenda come to us for the naming ceremony, she brings Earthsprings with her always. These two children love the outdoors so much and can sit and just watch the tree branches move without a care in the world. Who knew a 10 month old could be so still? But they can be and they are as they love to watch the trees, the birds, the squirrels. They also love dogs and there is one wonderful big black Labrador for them to enjoy. And I know he’ll enjoy them right back.
I know I haven’t posted pictures in several weeks but I promise that after this weekend there will be many new images available.
