We’ve Come a Long Way, Babies

Today is Logan and Forest’s 10 Month Birthday. It’s strange to go back to my posts from earlier this year and realize just how much babies do grow and change in such a very short time.

Logan’s first word was “Buh Bye” just a week ago. But the first word that he actually understands is “Ball”. If you say “where is the ball? or do the sign for ball, he will look for and get it. He goes around holding it up and saying “ball”. I think he also has some connection between ball and clapping because he’ll say ball while he claps. His eating habits are not regular right now but I think it’s because of his teething. But he continues to enjoy his bottles. He does great with the sippy cup. Logan doesn’t like to be dressed or have his diaper changed, sometimes throwing full on temper tantrums about it. He is obvious about his dislike of being too covered, picking at long sleeves and pants and sometimes even shorts frustrate him. He’d much rather be au natural. He continues to love the outdoors and gets such a kick out of crawling around in the dirt and trying to eat leaves. Logan goes to sleep really well so we know when there is a problem if he’s not sleeping well. Cuddly. He’s mischievous and loves to play keep away and peek a boo. Loves to play with big blankets and be taken into forts. He steals Forest’s pacifier in what appears to be on purpose to tease him. Logan recently started to move his body to music and continues to bang and drum on everything. He is shy with strangers when they make eye contact but warms up pretty quickly to those that take interest in playing with him.

Forest loves dogs and tries to talk to them when they are near. He knows the word “ball” and the sign and will go and get a ball if you say or do the sign. Momma has been his first word but he’s not into mimicking like Logan so it’ll be interesting to see his vocabulary grow. A light definitely goes on in his eyes when you talk to him or use sign language. He stands for several seconds at a time by himself. Forest gets really upset when touched by brother, who also always steals his toys and gets the same response. He enjoys being upside down and is a huge daddy’s boy. He points at things constantly know so I try and let him know what everything is. Continues to fall asleep on car rides. He’s very friendly with strangers as long as they aren’t too close. Forest has really expressed a love for water and finds grass icky and doesn’t enjoy walking or crawling on it. He also dislikes being dressed or having his diaper changed and cries as if he was being tortured; and I do call it Mommy Torture. Forest has become a really good sleeper and knows how to put himself to sleep and back to sleep through his sleep cycles. It’s cute to watch him put the pacifier back into his mouth in a half awake state.

Both boys are super cuddly and love to be held and sang to when they get tired. They don’t like it when they can’t see me and prefer to have me on the floor playing with them over trying to do housework. They also continue to dislike it when I hold both of them, wanting to be the only one in Momma’s arms at a time.

You know that thing people say about never knowing they could love another so much? Never realizing exactly what having children would mean? Well that’s me these days. I look at those boys constantly during my day and just feel my heart explode with joy. They are the most precious people ever. Their smiles bliss me out and their hugs warm my heart to the temperature of the sun. I can’t believe we are just two months for their First Birthday!
