8 Full Months

Talk about some busy little boys. Forest and Logan work so hard each day it’s no wonder they sleep so hard at night.

Logan has his first tooth and crawls all over the house. He chases the cats about and climbs up into a standing position from anything and everything at just the right height. He is full of smiles and giggles for his friends and family, including the cats. He still stays reserved about strangers but just the right new woman with just the right approach can get him to flash a warm grin on even the first introduction. He seems especially keen on women of color as I’ve noticed he smiles most easily for women of Indian or Mexican ethnicity. He falls asleep easily for his morning nap but has a hard time in the afternoons because he’d much rather be climbing and crawling. He talks very loudly and after a week of intently watching me say “momma” over and over again, he has added it to his vocabulary of “dadadada” and “babababa”. He plays a game that reminds us of a little lion, growling at you as he moves in and puts his mouth on a body part. He giggles like crazy when you do it to him.

Forest has decided not to let his brother have all the fun and despite appearing to have a harder time of it physically, crawls and climbs with the best of them. He is our social butterfly and loves to meet new people and always has a ready smile peaking from behind his pacifier. He likes to let his voice be heard as well when he’s not having bad teething days because then he keeps the pacifier in his mouth none stop. He reminds me of a bird. Forest complains when Logan steals the toys he is playing with or when he gets too close or in his way when climbing. But he also likes to follow him and I’ve seen them both reach out to the other in overwhelming situations like being in public or when relaxing for a bottle. Forest loves to cuddle and doesn’t mind moment of just laying back for some hand holding. You can’t have the tv on without his eyes going immediately to it.

The boys are eating 3 meals a day and four bottles. Their meals have progressed from just pureed veggies and fruits mixed with cereal to self feeding pieces of bananas and Cheerios (but no pincher gripe yet, it’s still a shoveling action with the palm). They love popcicles and ice cream (who doesn’t) and pretty much anything else that we big people are eating. Grapefruit, eggs, avocado, hummus, various breads, yogurt, and cream cheese are some of the other foods that they’ve tried and appeared to enjoy.

They sleep straight from 7:30 PM until 5:30 - 6:00 AM with two naps during the day.

Forest and Logan love to be in the water so we try and go swimming every weekend. Bath time is fun as they fearlessly dive after rubber duckies but their favorite bath toy is a little bowl. We’ve learned that the best toys are the common household objects. And books! They love to pull the books off the shelf and play with those and will sometimes even sit still to have one read to them.

I loose myself into their cuteness at minimum five times a day. I am amazed at their intelligence and hard work and how fast they figure things out and perfect new skills. I see them as such unique beings and love spending each day getting to know who they are. I love being forced to be in the moment with them because honestly, this is fun and they are fun!
