7 Months

It’s been awhile since I last posted due to the Aspen trip and then playing catch up all this past week. Aspen was wonderful and it was so good to be with my old friends. But after 3 days I was really missing the boys. I almost didn’t make it home Monday night due to all kinds of air plane craziness but thanks to Frontier Airlines all was made well. I was not a happy Momma thinking I would be another night away from my boys, that’s for sure!

The guys are simply delightful at this age.

Logan is rolling and getting around to the point that you can’t leave him in a room alone. He is definitely on the path to crawling with all of his knee bending shenanigans. He loves to eat solid food and will eat anything. If he’s around when I’m eating he immediately stops playing to watch and makes all kinds of crazy grunts to communicate that he wants to have some too. This has earned him many new food opportunities! I love doing it now but imagine it’ll get annoying in the future. He’s on a two nap schedule now, needing to be awake about 3 hours at a time, and sleeps from 7:30 PM to 6 - 6:30 AM straight. He loves water and baths and just learned to smack his hands in the water to splash. The little teeth he had peering out of his gums for the past couple months seem to have disappeared. Bah! That means going through the teething hell all over again. He is so funny and makes me laugh all the time with his antics. Who knew that colic baby who would scream until 2 AM would be able to charm me into loving him in new ways each and every day? He has become very cuddly and seems to enjoy being held and wrestled with.

Forest has decided that even though he has no interest in rolling, he still wants to be on his tummy and figure out this crawling thing for himself in his own way. It’s a new phenomenon for him and really interesting to watch. He is teething pretty badly right now and hopefully the little tooth we see will make an official appearance soon. He has gotten more comfortable in water and even enjoys himself in the pool. Rubber duckies make his world go round in the water and he becomes fearless. He takes 2 or 3 naps a day depending on how long his afternoon nap is. If it’s only an hour it’s just not enough to get him through until bedtime so I give him a short 30-45 minute nap in the late afternoon to keep us both sane. His smile is still the most beautiful smile ever as he flashes it first thing in the morning or right after a nap or just because you jump out from around the corner saying “peek a boo!”.

Now that the boys can sit up so well I bought a bath mat and give them their evening baths together and no longer one at a time in the baby bath tub. They hardly spit up any more but now we deal with constipation on a regular basis. The trials and tribulations of bottle fed/solid food fed babies. I keep prunes on hand and add them to pretty much every meal. Speaking of meals the boys eat so much now! This week we upped them from splitting a 3.5 oz baby food jar to each having one on their own at breakfast and dinner. They have a banana and oatmeal for lunch (with prunes of course).

“Aaboo” has been replaced by “baaabaa”, “maamaa” and “daaadaa” around our house. We are introducing sign language in hopes to be better able to communicate in the future. Trying out the Baby Einstein video for this, I’ll let you know how that goes.

I can’t stop saying how much fun the boys are at this age and how much fun we are having. I realize that this new mobility that is just around the corner is about to break that magic spell. But it seems like we are always having to adjust to some new change or another so this will just be the next thing to Look Forward To.

Hi Dawn! Glad to hear that you are back in the swing of things. It took me some time to bounce back as well (and that’s without babies). I found myself glowing today thinking of our time in Aspen. What a wonderful trip! It was so great to be with everyone, and especially spend time with you and Brad. A rare and delightful opportunity! Kisses to the boys.
