Birthday
Last Friday, April 27th, was my 34rd birthday. Several months ago I had seen an advertisment that the Broadway Musical “Mama Mia” was coming to Austin that weekend so Brad bought us tickets as my birthday gift. Dusty agreed to watch the boys that night and a date was born. I wasn’t sure what to expect, was almost afraid it would be uber cheesy in fact. I just knew that I really like Abba’s music and since I know almost all the words I’d have fun.
The show was WONDERFUL! It was fun to sit in an audience of all ages, showing how much the group’s music has crossed over the generations. The story was fun with a lot of great laughs and they found really unique ways to use the songs. I was impressed in the writer’s ability to go past the initial song story and create all knew ones with the context of the musical. It was the first time in close to a year that I was able to become engrossed in something that I forgot about myself, forgot about the babies, forgot about everything and just was. And that was a great birthday gift.
