To Seattle and Back Again

We returned last night from our visit to Seattle. It was very good for me and the boys to get to visit with my parents for a week, especially to give my mom lots of little baby giggles as she deals with the grief of loosing her father. I really enjoyed seeing Logan laugh harder then ever before when my dad played with him.

The boys did really well on the plane flights. Brad and I owe some travel karma back for the couple who traded seats with us on the way to Seattle so that we could sit together. I promise we’ll be watchful of those who need the same favor in the future. We learned one important lesson about traveling with twin babies, always buy the extra seat. On the way home the counter agent was awesome and not only got us seated together but even got us an extra seat - which is an amazing thing when traveling with babies on your lap. We got it for free but honestly I think it would be worth paying for in the future. Despite what the phone ticket agents will tell you, two babies can not sit on laps in the same row if the row is full of adults. So the extra seat comes in handy there as well.

Logan had a rough time with naps in a new place and is still struggleing a bit but hopefully getting him back on routine at home will help him out. We plan to travel at least twice more this year, if not more, so I expect it will get easier each time. It was a lot of work for me, I’m exhausted. Having to deal with both boys and their discomforts throughout the travels has left me drained. But it was all worth it and I will do it again, despite the tears I cried on Mom’s shoulder about how hard it is. Gratitude to all the women who are quick to remind a new mom that she isn’t alone and not to think she has to do it alone.

It was fun getting so much help in the airports and the attention on the planes. Lots of “how cute” to the twins, sure does make them celebrities. Even though Logan cried some, people were sweet and helpful.
