breastfeeding - 3 months
Three months of breastfeeding without any bottle supplements, except when I run out for of the a bit on weekends. We have started giving the boys one bottle feeding each weekend just to get them used to having a babysitter since Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Paul are watching them overnight for us next weekend. I’ve saved up my breast milk from each of those times so they’ll have a good mix for the weekend. I’m not opposed to formula or bottles, breastfeeding has just gone so well for me. I feel very blessed. I think that what I thought might have been fast let down was really just Logan becoming a more efficient eater and no longer interested in nursing for comfort.
It seems to be a big deal that a twin mom is able to breastfeed for so long. I had a lot of times when I really questioned my ability to do this, especially about a month ago. It’s hard because there are so many things going on and you don’t know what you are doing. I questioned myself over every single aspect of the feedings and it often made me think about quiting and switching. But I had said during the pregnancy that this was important to me and Brad was kind enough to gently remind me of that when I would get down or confused about it. So I would call on the Lactation Consultant over at the Pediatrician’s office or read up on www.kellymom.com (the greatest breastfeeding resource ever), then wait a few days and things have always worked themselves out.
My goal is 6 months and then I’ll see how things are going once the boys start eating solids.
