3 Months
Logan - My sensitive little man. He reacts with growls and screams to each and every issue of his body, making sure that everyone within hearing knows he is uncomfortable and unhappy about the situation. His head goes from red to purple. But with each new week he grows less and less so, he is happier and laughs more. He has always slept well but still needs lots of rocking and loving to get him to let go of the world around him and pass into the sleep that he needs for naps and at bedtime. He likes it when Daddy Dusty rocks him to sleep. He laughs out loud when his Daddy Brad plays motorcycle with him or when he is watching his mobile swing over his head. He is starting to deal with the car seat and errands a bit better, sometimes they can even be fun with him. His eyes dart around constantly, a big picture kinda guy I think. He knows about his hands and grabs onto things like his clothes, toys, anything that comes across his path. He has learned to enjoy baths and has even given me a couple smiles during the last few. He keeps me on my toes as I never know how he will be after each feeding or before each bedtime. He loves to eat and has learned to eat quickly and only needs about 5 minutes on the breast while his brother still takes 15. He snores and I wonder if he has sleep apnea and will be talking to the peditrician about it. The Previcid is working really well and he no longer cries after each feeding because of the acid reflux.
Forest - The face with character that has an instant smile for everyone. I think he’s already learning how to flirt. He giggles and has a huge grin when I sing to him (Tomorrow from Annie) or glance at him while taking care of his crying brother. His cry is much softer and more high pitched then any baby I have ever met. He can fall asleep well on his own when he is tired and can sleep pretty much anywhere (car seat, crib, bouncy chair, your arms). His eyes get huge when things are new and his shoulders reflex up when I put him into the bath. I think he gets cold easily so no matter what I do the bath is never pleasant for him. He was the king of the fountain during diaper changes for the first few months but we haven’t had one in a long time. He found his feet first and is always trying to wiggle out of his swaddling to get his fist into his mouth. He usually deals with any body discomforts with some wiggling and sucking on a pacifier. He watches everything slowly and takes the world with ease. His cooing sounds just like the doves outside the window. He has started to complain about being woken up from naps for feedings. He kicks his legs frantically while watching the mobile in the crib. As each new animal comes around, his legs get to going double time.
They look at each other all the time now. No smiles or conversations yet - but lots of looking.
The first two months were really hard and I didn’t think I would ever be able to have another baby again. But now that is fading away as I think about how much they have changed and grown and will continue to change and grow in the coming months. Time is an amazing thing.
