sleep
The boys are now 12 weeks old, 3 months. So I’m going to start trying to
1. Move them out of our bed and into the co-sleeper. Once they are used to sleeping in the co-sleeper only we will move it into their room and get them used to sleeping in there. The reality is that they would probably sleep a whole lot better if I wasn’t responding to their every squirm and noise at night.
2. Put them down in the co-sleeper or crib for naps and no longer let them take naps in the vibrating chairs or swing. So far I’ve found that Logan can put himself to sleep in the swing, no more need for me to rock him into it. This is a big step. Now to get him to sleep laying down. I’m starting with Forest on this one though because he seems to do a whole lot better with less sleep so he’s easier (go figure). So far today he’s taken 3 short naps, 2 in the co-sleeper and 1 in the crib. Yay!
3. Figure out their nap and sleep schedule. I think I’ve gotten Logan’s down (for the moment). And we’ve figured out a pretty good bed time as well. Now to understand how Forest’s schedule fits into all of this.
We are getting at least one, if not two, 4 hour intervals at night. I can’t help but wonder if they wouldn’t sleep longer if I wasn’t responding to them so quickly. It’s not that they are crying. It’s just the usual stomach stuff that gets them all squirmy and when I see the time I just assume it’s hunger and off we go. I have loved having the boys in the bed with us but the time has come to get our bed back for ourselves and give them a chance to sleep with just each other.
