None Stress Test

This morning I had my first none-stress test. These are usually done on singleton pregnancies if the mother is past her due date but much earlier with twins or other high risk pregnancies. It was very simple and easy. I got to sit in this very yummie recliner, this thing was HUGE, with the back kicked back and feet up. They then strapped on monitors for each boy’s heartbeat and another monitor for contractions. I was also given a little button to push every time I felt baby movements. The probing around to find the heartbeats (yay me for knowing pretty much where would be the right place to find them) woke the guys up and got them fiesty. So I got to push the button a lot. I had taken a book with me to read for the 20 minutes of the test but in that position with the button to push, it was next to impossible to hold a book or magazine. So I just enjoyed the experience of hearing the heartbeats and feeling/watching them move all over my belly. It was interesting to see their heart rates jump up when they were moving and then slow down considerably while still. Forest’s heartbeat has been lower for several months now on my visits with Laura so that wasn’t a surprise to see today. The good heart rates and active movement meant nothing is wrong so I was able to leave immediately. Had there been any concerns raised then they would have immediately done an ultrasound and checked things out further.
