skin changes
One reason I started this blog was to record my pregnancy experience for myself as well as for other women or even men who might be interested. The body changes in so many ways during a pregnancy; some changes are amazing and beautiful, some are weird, some painful or uncomfortable. Usually about once a week I’ll remember something I have forgotten to blog about bodywise during my shower (for obvious reasons). Today it is skin tags.
I had started getting skin tags on my neck a couple years ago. Nothing major or very noticable but while researching them originally on the internet I found references to how pregnancy can increase them. So I was expecting it when just a few months into the pregnancy I started to form more and more skin tags on my neck, breasts and under my arms.
I found this on http://www.askdrsears.com:
“Some pregnant women develop tiny polyps, called skin tags, in areas where skin rubs on clothing or skin rubs together. Commonly found under the arms, between neck folds, or under bra lines on the chest, skin tags are caused by hyperactive growth of a superficial layer of skin. They disappear a few months following delivery, but can be easily excised if they bother you.”
It wouldn’t be so bad if some weren’t so dark. You see that’s another skin change that occurs in pregnancy, horomones cause skin pigmentation changes so that freckles, moles, etc. can get darker. Seems to apply to skin tags. I hope that after the pregnancy they do go away but I have to admit I may just be vain enough to have them removed.

I don’t mean to get all creepy on you on my first visit here, but when I was pregnant with my twins my nipples almost immediately turned dark purple, almost brown, like eggplant.
They switched back to normal after I stopped nursing.
Being pregnant with two babies at once is a crazy experience!
