Not complaining, just mentioning

There have been some interesting pregnancy side effects that I have forgotten to mention lately. Everyone says that once the babies are born the pregnancy experience is pretty much forgotten so I want to keep a memory of everything.

Several months back I bought some cute slip on tennis shoes that are also very stretchy. While at the retreat I took my usual outdoor rubber slip-on loafers only to discover that yes indeed, my feet have grown and they wouldn’t fit into the shoes. I think my feet are about a 1/2 size bigger now. I’m curious to see what happens in January and if I’ll need to start buying a whole new wardrobe of shoes. Good thing I shop at Payless.

I had thought the carpal tunnel was getting better but for the past few days every finger on my right hand is numb. Definitely makes life interesting.

I’m having trouble sleeping lately not because of back pain but because of my legs. I had dropped out of yoga the past few months but realized a few weeks ago that I wanted to get back into it at least once a week before the boys are born. Then I started having all these leg troubles at night and just in general. It’s weird that despite relaxen I find my legs are becoming less flexible. I lost my ability to cross my legs weeks ago. And recently I can barely to pull my feet up to sit “indian style” which is usually how I sit in any chair. This and the siatica is coming back in full on my left and now even to an uncomfortable when I’m sleeping on the right. I am confident that between the yoga and going to a chiropractor I can make myself more flexible again for the next few months.

I’ve been having strange itching. I had heard a lot about having an itchy belly or strange bumbs… I haven’t experienced the bumbs but my belly does occasionally itch. But these are strange itches on my hand or arms. They aren’t constant but just suddenly come on and I can’t stop scratching like when you have a bug bite.

This morning’s Preterm Labor Prevention appointment showed me up to 172 lbs (so 32 lbs total) and still with no signs of preterm labor or complications to be found. We always listen to the heartbeats and it sounds like Logan is still head down and Forest appears to be enjoying all the extra room he now has up under my ribs. Laura recommended the good old fashioned poking and proding to get him to turn as well. Gotta love all these scientific methods!

Today I washed baby clothes, blankets, hats and socks. I look at these clothes, socks in particular, and I am amazed that they will be that small. Going through everything has helped me redo the registries a little bit. But darnit, I’ve never done this before so I can only go by advice online and from friends.

Hey lady…just wanted to give you a thought about washing things. My sister washed everything religiously prior to letting my nephew wear or play with anything and now he’s always sick. (She also didn’t breastfeed so that could be a factor as well). I never washed any of Ryan’s things. I happen to like the crisp feeling of new clothes and also figured I’d rather expose him to certain things to build up his immunity a bit (but not go crazy, of course! We always use the shopping cart cover in the stores and almost everytime we shop at least one person stops me and asks me about it). Anyways, just wanted to mention this. I also never used any special detergent (they do have one for kids) I just used what we would use for our clothes. Just wanted to mention this! :)
