9 weeks left, but who’s counting?

I’ve noticed that “the line” is starting to show, the linea nigra. This is the slightly darker colored line running down my belly. It’s still pretty light but I noticed it.

I’m having lots of aches and pains in my pelvic area and back. These must be those infamous “round ligament pains.” From babycenter.com: “The round ligaments support your uterus in your pelvis. As your uterus grows during pregnancy, the ligaments stretch and thicken to accommodate and support it. These changes can occasionally cause you pain on one or both sides of your abdomen. You may feel the pain starting from deep inside your groin, moving upward and outward on either side to the top of your pelvis (where your hips are).” Yep, that about sums it up.

I had my first craving the other night. Krispy Kreme donuts, at 10 PM. Good thing that there is a 24 hour Krispy Kreme place just across the street! Mind you I don’t normally want Krispy Kremes, I’d rather have Duncan Donuts (also 24 hours and just across the street), but in that moment it was Krispy Kreme or nothing. This morning I woke up wanting biscuites and gravy and grits…and I think I may have already found myself a partner in crime for an early Kerby Lane trip!
Last night I was scheduled to attend a “Meet the Doctor” night for a local pediatrician. Unfortunately as I got up from dinner to start getting ready I also was having contractions. I experienced a few contractions, not painful but interesting feeling all the same. I was nauscious for some time, and had a couple dizzy spells. After a couple glasses of water and laying down for a couple hours everything was fine. I’m sure the two episodes of Battlestar Galactica helped, too.

This morning I have my appointment with Laura and then I see my OB this afternoon. I’m leaving immediately from the Doctor’s for the Spiritwoman retreat. This year it’s going to be here in Austin, just south of town near the zoo. While I’m disappointed to not be at Earthsprings, it’ll be neat to be so close and in a new place. It’ll be a smaller group this year then the recent past years but again, this has it’s advantages as well. I was going to wait until tomorrow to go but I’m just too excited and ready. And honestly, I need to go. I’ve been working through a lot of emotions and in a depression of sorts. Not the kind of depression that requires medications, just what happens when a lot is changing or when I’m stuck waiting and well - this is both! Four days and nights off with my some of my favorite sisters in the wilds of Texas always does my heart good.

dawn, you look and sound so great. i hope you have a refreshing weekend. :D

I’m thinking having it in Austin was a blessing as well since I’m not sure making that drive would be all that comfortable these days…?
