29 weeks… are we there yet??

I don’t know if other people can see it as easily as I can but it’s become very obvious where the boys are by the strange mounds that form across or stretch my belly.  They make me very lopsided so when I look down I’m like…oooh weird!  They still maintain a little movement in the morning and then a lot in the evening.  Best time to feel them is around 10 PM.   In fact that’s when you can sit and watch my belly start rolling and bobbing as body parts push across the skin.

The Pregnancy Belt -  specificially the “Mom-Ez Maternity Back Support & Belt” that Laura told me about has been a total wonder and the best $40 I’ve spent for the pregnancy.  I don’t find a need for it just sitting around the house yet but it’s a blessing when I go out.  It holds the boys and my uterus up which helps me last longer walking around stores and even relieves the pressure on my bladder so that I don’t have to make as many bathroom runs while out running errands.  It’s not as comfortable sitting down as standing but it’s not that bad either and helps me sit up straight.  I was concerned it would be itchy or rub under my clothes but I’ve worn it directly against my skin under my cotton gouchos and isn’t uncomfortable at all.

Had a wonderful weekend.  Amazing food Friday night at Ararat with Zonk, Alissa and Brad.  Ararat is this great middle eastern restaurant in Austin with carpets on the walls, drummers and belly dancers.  It was wonderful to eat such goodies as lamb stem and lamb kabobs and enjoy such good friends’ company.   Saturday I got to catch up with another mom, Kim, and see her ADORABLE little boy who I haven’t seen in years.  They are both doing well and I plan to take advantage of not working to see them both more often.

Last night Brad and I went to the Moon Festival at the Zilker Park Japanese Garden and got to walk through the gardens at sunset with laterns strung along the path, way cool traditional drummers, and moon cakes.  The drums alone were worth the trip out into the bugs.  Taiko is the Japanese word for “great drum” and the greatest part was that the drummers ranged in age and were a mix of men and women.  In fact 3 of the women looked to be at least 50, which was way cool to me!  These are mighty drums with a strong sound and beautiful rhythms.  I was very excited by this new sound and music.

Nap time!

Damn, all of this makes me want to move to Austin! Those are the kinds of things Tom and I would love to do! :) Glad you’re there to absorb it all and expose the boys to such wonderful music, art, etc.
