One Hour Glucose Test - failed
Just got the call from my OB’s nurse that I did not pass the 1 hour glucose test. She said that my numbers were borderline (literally only a few points off) so I’m not worried about it. Cathy even suggested that it could be that I was slightly off on the timing. Laura, my Preterm Labor Prevention Program nurse at the Perinatal Clinic, warned me that twins often will give a positive on the one hour test and then be fine for the 3 hour. She mentioned that the cut off levels probably need to be changed for twins but since it’s never been done we just get the joy of starving and spending 3 hours in a lab to prove that there isn’t a problem. I haven’t had any symptoms or issues so I’m confident (I shouldn’t jinx myself should I?) that if I do have a problem it is borderline and will be manageable with diet. So Monday I’ll be heading down the street at 7 AM for this fun. Luckily there is a clinic just a few blocks away instead of having to head all the way central in the morning rush hours traffic. Good thing that I like to read!
