evening yoga class
Since I’m new to yoga I have been urged to try different teachers to be exposed to different styles and people. After reading that one of the teachers also has twins (and is also named Dawn) I figured that’s a good addition to my Sunday class with Linda. Doing yoga at 6 PM on a Monday after having had 4 (very long) interviews back to back was HARD WORK. The room was very hot and it never felt like it cooled down much. As it’s over 100 here and many yoga classes tend on the warm side this is no surprise but darnit turn the AC down for the pregnant women! Dawn tried her best but it was hard for it to catch back up. We did some poses that were new to me which was good but while appearing simple they hit parts of my body that are not very strong. Dawn has an obvious kundalini bent and incorporated several mantras (some that I knew thanks to Alissa) and talked us through a lot of things in a very positive, spiritual way. We chatted after class about our experiences with twin pregnancy and got to know each other a bit. I’ll definitely keep going to the class because I really like Dawn, I like the mantras and her style, and I enjoyed new poses that challenge me. I just hope that we find a way to really crank the AC as the heat continues to rise (104 today!).
