13 weeks development
“The fetus is now nearly 3 inches long from crown to rump and weighs nearly an ounce — about half a banana. Its unique fingerprints are already in place. And when you poke your stomach gently and she feels it, your baby will start rooting — that is, act as if she’s searching for a nipple.
If you’re having a girl, she now has approximately 2 million eggs in her ovaries; she will have only a million by the time she’s born. She’ll have fewer eggs as she gets older, and by age 17, the number will have dropped to 200,000.”
This is what it looks like inside, only imagine that there are two!

“The general recommendation for total pregnancy weight gain for women carrying twins is 35-45 pounds. Weight gain during the first trimester is usually modest but, beginning in the second trimester, a steady gain of about 1.5 pounds per week is encouraged.” “One study showed optimal outcomes were associated with weight gain of 44 pounds for twin pregnancies.”
I’m glad they mention the modest weight gain at first because I hardly eat these days and I’ve been concerned. I expect the stomach stuff will go away in the next few weeks and the eating for 3 will begin ;)
